Who can attend and what do I need to enroll?
You can register your child with proof of identity, current immunization records, and proof of residency in Dallas ISD, Desoto ISD, Lancaster ISD, or the immediate surround suburbs. We can request the remaining documents from your previous school.
Is TriEA an accredited school?
Trinity Environmental Academy (TriEA) is an accredited charter school in the State of Texas through the 2018-19 school year. We will not be accredited (or open) beginning in 2019-20. Our report cards, promotions, transcripts and/or diplomas will allow a scholar admission into any school in the United States should the scholar qualify for admission.
What grade levels do you have this year?
We are serving 10 grade levels (Pre-K – 9th grade) in 2018-19 – about 500 scholars total. We will continue to “age up” our scholars until they graduate high school from TriEA. Once we are completely full in 2021, we will serve PK-12 with over 1,000 scholars on campus.
Can I enroll after school has already started?
Yes. Even though school started for us on August 13th, 2018, our initial focus is building culture, social, and intellectual skills. Academic pursuits begin mid-August. By State law, we are required to enroll scholars whenever we have spots/vacancies – no matter what time of the year.
What if I don't have the right school supplies or can meet the dress code?
Lack of school supplies or clothes that meet our dress code should not be a limiting factor in choosing TriEA as a school for your scholar. We have scholarship opportunities for those that need them most.
The outdoor classroom concept sounds great, but what about the weather?
While our program has a focus on using outdoor classroom and outdoor learning, we are bound by State regulations to limit a scholars outdoor exposure when it is below 45 degrees and above 95 degrees – or on any weather alert days. Every precaution, as with every school, will be taken to keep scholars safe inside and outside of the school.
I have kids in other grade levels that you don't serve, what can I do?
If we don’t end up serving 5th grade in 2018-19 because of space limitations, enrolling your Pre-K – 4th and 6th – 8th grader now will allow your other elementary children in grade 5 to bypass the lottery next year since they already have a sibling enrolled at TriEA. The State of Texas understands parents need to have their children in only one or two schools. This allows for all of your children to eventually be on one campus for the rest of their K-12 experience.
Do you have buses that can pick my child up and return them home?
Not at this time. We can serve to help parents connect and carpool or use daycare vans to transport scholars. We encourage parents to ride share in order for a child not to loose out on a great education. We also have an aftercare program for those parents that cannot pick up at the end of the school day.
Do you have an aftercare program? I can't pick up my kids immediately after school.
Yes, we do. It is managed by the school with several school employees. The costs for the 2018/19 school year are $30/week, paid the week before services are rendered. We also have Wednesday Only aftercare for $40/month since we release early each Wednesday.
What time does school start and end each day?
School begins at 8:00am for everyone. Primary grades release at 3:40pm and Secondary grades release at 4:00pm. If you have both a Primary and Secondary scholar, we will hold the Primary scholar until the Secondary scholar is released.
Every Wednesday is early release at 2:15pm for Primary and 2:30pm for Secondary. The current school calendar can be found on the Parents page.
